For those who love the Oktoberfest beer name evokes thoughts mythical, almost mystical.
It 's a bit like Mecca for a Muslim, a Christian and the Vatican to San Siro for AC Milan / Inter.
least once in your life you must go.
In my 30 years this festival I did 3 times in Monaco (2003-2004-2005) and this year for the first time in Stuttgart.
So I want to write a short guide (including survival) and the choice to help solve any doubt. In
version question - the answer here is "guide that no one had ever done,"
M. = S. Monaco
Stuttgart
= 1) How is the party? It 'the same in both?
The parties are similar, both are found in a zone where there are all the attractions.
The heart of the festivals are obviously stands of different beers present, inside them sitting on the planks start ordering beer and typical food (chicken, pork shank, wuster, sauerkraut, etc.) but soon the effect beer el ' lively atmosphere created by music orchestras will present "force" to climb on stools to sing and dance and drink with everyone.
Outside the tents instead is full of rides, food stalls, vendors of sweets and of course portable mini-breweries.
2) The size of the festival is the same? How
dimensions are similar if not identical. Change the grandeur
Stand at M. contain about 8-9000 people while S. about 3000-4000 people.
3) these beers?
changing area of \u200b\u200bcourse are different brands of beer. A
M. depopulate the most famous HB, Spaten and Paulaner, while S. they are not personally but I've tasted beers that I had never heard but just as good .. among them the Schwaben Brau, the Furstenberg and Gtuttgarter
4) hours?
The premise is that you go on the W.end, times vary by day and location. A
M. The festival begins on Friday in the early afternoon, around 2 doing a little 'tail and infiltrating the side door you can not go quite well. Obviously the more you go
away with the time the harder it is to enter the stands, especially to the post-work hours (from 5 to 7) where there's also the public. On Saturday instead
M. is a struggle, at 9-10 the stands are already full and the queues are long (of course if you have not booked a table).
Code for a large group (3-4) also come to 3-4 hours.
And if you go out and get some 'air return is not so easy.
The closure starts at 12.11 pm A
S. everything is more relaxed, and in particular to Friday 15-16 to the few people we have come to the games and there were 13 of the rides that began to open and stand half-empty. From
16 will begin to fill, it is important to be in within 17 to take place in a free table.
On Friday we also managed to change the stand to 21 without too many problems with a little 'of cunning. On Saturday
change, people come first and into the 14 is already a steady stream of people for rides and the stands are already full.
Unlike Monaco, there I saw people come in from the side doors (at maximum crowd) and the queues are really slow.
Then about 16-17 just does not enter if you have not bracelets of reserved tables, so better get there first.
If you can not enter, get the beers in the beer out of the stands and try again at about 8 .. the tail is practically nonexistent. Closing
11-12 pm here
5) prices? Here
triumphs S., M. comparison is really expensive.
A M.. In fact most people go to M. camper, because the hotels are absurd .. an old three-star a bit 'middle can cost you 90 € in triple per person per day. A
S. Can also be found in 1 / 3 of the price.
the remainder of the liter of beer costs more or less the same while the food is slightly cheaper than in S.
Again, unless you use the Camper, S. spend at least half of what you spend M.
6) Presence?
M. is the most tourists, is that known throughout the world, then you find people from every place.
addition to the local people, is people from Australia, United States, Britain, France and above all
Italians. The
W.end feel really speak Italian everywhere. A
S. of tourists if they are indeed much less, for now, I would say a few.
of Italians will cross some small group, but the Germans are at 80-90% .. Although very few Americans or the like.
6) Various
One major difference between S. and M. is that the latter party if you're not sitting will not give you something to drink while S. if you go close to spilling the damage even if you're standing.
Socializing in both parties, it is very easy, with neighbors to table it takes a second ..
7) Finally, what do you prefer? Now I would say
S., because I find it much less commercial, more "German", and then you have far fewer "slamming" to enter the booth and to find a good cheap accommodation, great to have fun and there are far fewer Italians.
But if one looks for the "party" rampant since early morning and socialize with people around the world better than M.
My advice is to go to M. for those going the first time, while S. is better for future editions.
